Calendar of Trips

We add trips to our schedule as they are requested. If you don’t see the trip you would like on our calendar you can register for the one you are interested in and we will add it to our calendar as long as our schedule permits. Trips are created on a first come, first serve basis so the further ahead you register the more options you have in trips and start time. Visit the Choosing a Trip page for guidance to help you decide which trip would be best for your group.

Outdoor activities are always subject to changes in weather. If there is just a light rain or passing shower we can go ahead with the trip. Incase of storms with heavy rains and/or lightning we will cancel the trip and notify you as far ahead as possible. Trip availability also depends on the river levels.

This weekend course will provide instruction in the fundamentals of whitewater kayaking.

In the morning of the first day, students will learn about whitewater boating equipment, basic river safety and river navigation.

During the afternoon of the first day, we'll turn to instruction in essential paddling strokes -- forward, draws, sweeps and others -- before embarking on a short river trip to practice  eddy turns, peel outs and ferries.

On the second day, we will put together what was learned the first day with a 5.5 mile river trip that emphasizes river reading skills and negotiating class II rapids.

Fee: $195 per person.  A boat, PFD, paddle, spray skirt, wetsuit and helmet are provided.

Find peace and serenity that exists around and within us while paddling on the Haw River.  Meditation increases focus, calmness, patience, consciousness and clarity.  It does not have to be about sitting for hours in an uncomfortable position.  It can be a relaxing paddle and immersion in Nature.  Being in Nature and on the river helps to develop an awareness that is hard to find indoors.

No meditation and/or paddling experience is necessary for this guided trip.  You just need to be open to the sounds, sights and smells all around you while doing your best to calm the thoughts racing through your mind.

Fee:  $40.00 per person with the canoe/kayak provided.
